We were there for three nights, and were made to feel very much at home. The room was very comfortable and had a nice terrace. The garden was peaceful and very private, which was perfect for sunbathing and relaxing without worrying about “dress code”. It was a relaxing and homely environment. We had a very nice breakfast each morning, and in the evenings Raj made some delicious curries with fresh local ingredients. Wadduwa is not a touristy place, which we liked. It is located on the train line between Colombo and Galle, with both easily reachable.

We were warmly greeted by the staff and given an exceptional room. The hotel grounds were spotless as was the room. The pool was a great relief from the scorching sun. Built on 9 acres of gardens, AVANI Kalutara Resort (formerly Kani Lanka Resort and Spa) is located by the Kalu Ganga River. It offers an outdoor pool, a luxurious spa and free Wi-Fi. ⸻ Ayubowan! Another one of our reviews is for the Avani Kalutara Resort. We have visited many places and continents, staying in both five-star and four-star hotels. For the first time in my life, I can honestly say one thing: in this hotel, several times our wishes were fulfilled before we even managed to say them out loud. We have never experienced anything like this anywhere else. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. You can truly feel that they perceive you and try to anticipate what you might need… Incredible!! We must also express our sincere thanks to Mr. Rishman Doole, who helped us a lot when my partner got sunburned. He immediately arranged for healing products to be delivered to our room. Thank you very much! 😊 We also have to mention the cooking classes. A wonderful experience, during which—under the guidance of Mr. Nipuna Laksan—we cooked amazing Sri Lankan food, and the experience was unique. Our guide during the cooking was Mr. Hashan, who revealed to us the secrets of the local cuisine. For us, it was truly a special experience. The only slight negative is one of the hotel’s tuk-tuk drivers — I believe his name is Mr. Jambo. A typical driver who offers you cheap transportation and then takes you to tourist traps (herbal garden, river safari) where he gets commissions and everything is overpriced (you can arrange it much cheaper). Be careful with him — don’t go anywhere with him or it will cost you several times more. The transportation price is not everything. Otherwise, this hotel provided a truly exceptional experience! We will definitely recommend it to all our friends who travel to Sri Lanka.

Mermaid Hotel & Club se nachází v rybářské osadě Mahawaskaduwa ve městě Kalutara, asi 39 km od města Colombo. Tento tropický rezort nabízí 2 venkovní bazény, lázně a bezplatné parkování. Kuchyně v hotelu byla skvělá. Byl veliký výběr a ochutnali jsme hodně místních pokrmů. Personál se snažil a byl ochotný v restauraci, v hotelu i u baru.
