Almunecar is a small seaside resort which has two separate bays,
one with a promenade where restaurants overlooking the sea can be found and small fishing boats used to be launched. The other bay has more activity with outdoor cocktail bars and parasols on the beach, which is close to the resorts main shops. If you want to relax for a few days in the sun this would be an ideal location but local transport is limited with no train service.

Wonderful city and extraordinary people.
Wonderful city and extraordinary people. The Roman ruins and the castle are wonderfully preserved. The archaeological museum is worth visiting. A walking tour around the city, and popping in and out of the different shops, and bars (with tapa included) provides quite an experience.

Almuñécar is a great town with very nice beaches. Lots of bars and restaurants with great tapas. The fort is well worth a visit with great views of the surrounding area. The old town is very quaint and on the seafront there a walk up to a viewing platform overlooking the sea.

Mid sized town / long sea front promenade, mostly flat but some hilly stretches. Few shops along prom but all essentials. Several snackbars, cafes & restaurants along the front but we were happy to eat in the hotel; Big beach and sea mostly calm

Almuñecar is a bit mixed. .
Almuñecar is a bit mixed. .The town has centuries of history, but a lot was ruined by wars and earthquakes. It shifted to budget tourism from sugarcane and fishing in the 1960s. Now it's going upmarket. It's surrounded by orchards and hills, and has some lovely areas of charming villas. Culturally, it's a bit special. Even though it's a small town, It has an arts centre with a decent theatre. There are concerts two or 3 times a week, even in winter, and jazz, flamenco and theatre festivals in the summer. Good restaurants, nice beaches. Public transport isn't great unless it's midsummer, so if you don't have a car, I suggest that you stay somewhere near the centre.
I stayed two nights in this wonderful apartment in Almuñecar. The owner was nice and thoughtful, she explained me everything about the house and was really friendly.
The house itself has everything you would need, and it's also pretty big (for 1/2 people at least). Everything was really clean and all the facilities were working right. It's not in the center, but i really enjoyed the view because of that. Muchas gracias Pilar, hasta pronto!
As soon as we entered the hotel, I had a good feeling about the place. It felt like a long established hotel which was well maintained with pride by the staff. We stayed half board and the food and dining area was pleasant. There was a large bar area and lovely looking pool area. We stayed in February and got a very good price for our room. I loved the location by the sea too. I would definitely return if in the area.
This Hotel, the staff and the room totally exceeded my expectations. This was a treat!
The rooms are big, recently refurbished and have a luxury feel about them.
There is a really nice veranda overlooking the see where you can relax and watch the sun go down. The buffet food was excellent, and the service too.
I had a back of the hotel room with no view but that was fine for me and reflected in the price of the room.
Really lovely house with gorgeous views and everything you need for your stay. Lots of helpful extras like dishwasher tablets, laundry stuff, full range of kitchen equipment, toiletries etc (including a decent hairdryer!) Also, Cristobel gave some great information when we arrived about facilities and parking etc. in Almunecar which we used several times during the week.
Great staff, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nice, clean (deep clean actually) and large room. Comfortable beds. The balcony and the view. Car park options, the paying car park is below the hotel, but free parking is available in nearby streets. The beach is closed from the hotel, old town traditional restaurants are near.
View was Incredible ,Best Spot in Almunecar Vantage Point for View of the Rock and The Cross ,I enjoyed the Quiet Tranquil feel of the place ,Staff were very Polite ,Efficient and Professional Miguel and Nando
The Host Mercedes made everything Wonderful also her Husband Jose
Highly Recommend ,A Hidden Jewel
it was clean and updated. I loved that I could see the ocean and board walk from the terrace. located downtown Almuñécar, overlooking the Mediterranean. walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops. I liked that it was a gated community. easy parking.
A very clean trendy hotel near the sea with great breakfast and bar ! Rooftop swimming pool is small but very nice view from above and very refreshing . Breakfast staff and Lidia from the bar were very nice ! We had a great stay !
Very authentic part of Spain with amazing views across the Mediterranean Sea. Quiet little beaches tucked away in a less touristy area.
Short car ride away from town centre which had many shops and restaurants.
Great holiday
Excellent value for money, free nearby parking behind the locked gate, very central with everything near, the view of the beach (2 minutes on foot), easy to find, great communication with the host.
There are only 2 dog-friendly hotels in the city centre of Almunecar. Chinasol is the better one :) ... location is very good! Liked also our little balcony and the complimentary vine bottle!
Stayed here many times over a number of years. Wonderful location, beach and food. Hotel has some beautiful Morrocan touches/decor and the restaurant food was better than we remember.
Great helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, incredible beach location and the occasional music event and roof top bar all make it one of my favorite hotels!
We had a big apartment, the kitchen needs to be updated, looking quite sad, but otherwise the facilities were great. Best part of the hotel is the pool area.
