Zanzibar Locke is such a cool hotel apartment and I would definitely go back! The hotels are generally expensive in Dublin so I can't say it's 100% affordable however I was travelling for work so it was covered by my company. Very lucky to have stayed there, very comfortable and customized, they give you tips about everything in the city and they have yoga/stretch sessions, running sessions they do for whoever wants to join for free. The room had every single thing you might have needed, you can cook there, iron, clean the room yourself if needed - they clean once every week. Really loved the design details in the hotel, the food in the cafe was also great and wished I wouldn't leave. The location is in the city center so a very lively place infront of Ha'penny bridge :). Highly recommended!

Everything was great. The hotel is located in an elegant area, a few bus stops from the Temple Bar area and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. The room modern, is quality quiet, very well equipped, elegant and cozy. There are EU and UK sockets, a built-in USB charger, lights can be switched on from the bed, there was even a DVD movie and player. There is also heating and cooling, separately in the bathroom. The bed is comfortable, the room has a coffee machine and coffee capsules, tea and even biscuits as a pleasant surprise. The breakfast is great, good selection, good quality and plentiful.

FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

Dublin is an easy to walk/explore city, with lots to see and experience. 'Maps' can be very helpful in navigating the older parts of the city. Quite busy, and a bit crowded with visitors from around the world, which is to be expected. A vast array of neighborhoods and things to do - more than just the City Center/Temple Bar area. Transit is good, though not always on time. Local folks are generally friendly and helpful. Like any major city, staying aware of ones surroundings is important, especially after dark. We were there for a sporting event, and is was a great experience.

    Ireland is a dream.

Ireland is a dream. The people were all so friendly and fun to talk to. We got out of Dublin immediately and explored several towns (Ennistymon, Ennis, Galway, Cork, Belfast) and loved every minute of it. We have another trip in the works already and I would say you need at least a week to see and do as much as possible! Also recommend public transportation vs driving... it took away so much stress!

Allow plenty of time for the Guinness storehouse, an experience not to be missed. Arlington Celtic night was amazing- good food/Irish music and dancing. The different times offered for this, allow for staggered food service. The show actually starts at 8pm. When we came out at 10pm, Dublin was still buzzing, vibrant and colourful! Dublin castle was a surprise inside and worth a visit, as are the Cathedrals. Make sure you visit the Temple Bar area for atmosphere and shop. Once we figured out where to get 8 euro/day bus/tram passes and downloaded the app, getting around was easier. Still did an awful lot of walking though.

Dublin is a wonderful experience with umpteen places of interest to enjoy and when you visit safe areas but a little scary on public transport and in O'Connell Street particularly where one witnesses atrocious anti-social behavior. It is blatantly obvious that there are a lot of people suffering from a severe drug dependency. While this is extremely sad to observe it is also terrifying as the anti social behavior is extremely threatening and frightening.

Dublin is a great city for a couple of nights.

Dublin is a great city for a couple of nights. The bars and Grafton street are a must as well as Trinity College and Temple Bar. I would only stay longer than two nights if I was using it as a base for day trips to other parts of Ireland. Dublin is extremely expensive. You're more likely to meet other travellers rather than locals at the bars in Dublin. After two days it does become a bit boring. The standard and variety of food is not as high as other European cities yet are more expensive. If you're into bar hopping and live music there is no shortage. The music does tend to be repetitve in the different pubs with the usual singalong tunes in the Temple Bar area. Pubs outside that area tend to be more interesting and with more locals.

DCU accommodation was cheap but clean. Breakfast included.

DCU accommodation was cheap but clean. Breakfast included. Bedroom cleaned daily. Towels provided. Very clean bedding and towels. A little too far out of Dublin City centre especially as public transport was unpredictable. I would recommend this accommodation but be wary of using public transport. Taxi into Dublin is around £20 each way. You can use public transport with the Leap card but make sure you buy this from the main bus office in O’Connell street, otherwise you are charged an extra £5 euros per card in Spar’s and other shops. You can also pay cash on buses but you must have the exact change. It’s around 2,60 euros per person per trip. You can also buy visitor Leap cards for 3 or 7 days. This allows you to access local trams, trains and buses (when they turn up!)

Extremely clean and tidy hotel in the City Centre of Dublin. I had a corner room which was very large. Room was extremely clean and well equipped with everything you could want. huge bathroom with powerful shower and nice included toiletries. I also had breakfast included which is a buffet of a good quality in a nice place to sit. Worth the money in a very expensive city. Staff are all very pleasant an knowledgeable. They kept my bags safe after check out and assisted me in finding the airport bus stop which is only a 5min walk away.
