A well organised city.
A well organised city. Shymbulak Snow Mountain is very close by to city. Lots of Indian restaurants available. Yandex Go ( Taxi App ) is very nominal and also available immediately from Booking. Highly recommend tourist to use Yandex go. Don't use Airport taxi agents who approach you , they offer less price to get hold of customers however while dropping they charge heavy,so be careful and better not use them. Instead you may use prepaid taxi or Yandex Go.

The mountain view is pretty, the facilities are as promised and we enjoyed the stay. We rebooked to stay again - hopefully this will be our Almaty base.

Soon after we landed in the almaty airport, she helped us to arrange a taxi direct to the apartment. (after we have been approached aggressively by a bunch of taxi drivers in the airport). She also helped us to bring our luggage to the train station during our departure from almaty. Overall we were very happy to stay in her place and glad to know her.

You can go to a guided tour via hostel which is I guess the cheapest option if you want to see some places in the south of Kazakhstan.
