CanadaOverall the place is amazing. The spa is such a relaxing experience. You could spend multiple days just at the hotel and never be bored. There were a lot of extra amenities we received on arrival and during our stay which was a nice touch. We felt very spoiled staying here. All the staff was very nice including those who worked at the restaurant. Good selection of food including a good vegan menu.

The place is equipped with everything you need for a short stay. The breakfast was superb, a lot of dished cooked with local products. Excellent service and great experience. Recommending a chefs dinner at the restaurant, it was very sophisticated.

PortugalVery nice hotel. The room was big with its own bathroom. I loved the big bathtub! And the view from the balcony (3rd floor) was so beautiful.
I highly appreciate that there was a cattle with two cups and tea (black and green) as well as a big beautiful bottle of local mineral water in the room. The tea and water were refilled every day when the maids cleaned up the room.
The bedding sheets smelled fresh and the bed was big and comfortable. There was also an extra blanket if you feel chilly.
There was a really nice chain of lights attached to the wall behind the bed that gave a cozy light. Additionally, there were two table lamps on each side of the bed and a big room light.
The balcony had two curtains, one see through curtain to keep insects out and a thick curtain to keep the room dark at night. They did a good job.
A second pool was being renovated while I was there which should be ready to be used in July 2023. I didn't get to use the pools because the weather was too chilly and sun and rain alternated too often, so I preferred the hot springs in the city instead, but in the peak of summer they would be really nice to have.
The hotel was super quiet and the staff was friendly and speaks fluent English and French. I really enjoyed my stay. I don't understand why this hotel has only 1 star. It should be at least 2, if not 3. I highly recommend this place.

GermanyThe hotel was the perfect place to stay in Furnas! The rooms were comfortable and super clean. It‘s location was quite central why it was easy to reach many attractions from there. But one of the most Importan aspects was that all employees were extremely friendly and always ready to help us when we had a question.
So all in all I would totally recommend Vale Verde Hotel and would always stay there again if I come back to Saõ Miguel!

The best place to stay on Sao Miguel. You can easily walk to Lake Furnas and Parque Grená which has lots of waterfalls. There are thermal springs you can visit at both Terra Nostra and Poça da Dona Beija (which was great at night time). Espinha cocktail bar was lovely as was Terra Nostra Restaurant. You could spend a whole day walking around the area where there are parks with geothermal activity and a beautiful church in the centre. Exceptionally nice and comfortable accommodation. The accommodation was in a quiet location close to a large park, the town centre and excellent restaurants (especially a superb "Restaurante Tony's"). A free parking space on the street nearby was available even when returning from trips in the evening. The landlady was very nice, she cleaned the room every day and changed the towels every day. Cleanliness was outstanding. The room overlooking the courtyard with the pool and with access to the terrace (table, parasol, chairs) was spacious and the beds very comfortable. This is a rather hilly town, so it might not be ideal for...
This is a rather hilly town, so it might not be ideal for people with walking difficulties. In many of the streets the cobbled footpaths are very narrow - less than a metre wide - and many drivers go much too fast, which is scary for pedestrians. Finding a place to park near the centre is virtually impossible. I imagine a wheelchair user would struggle with the narrow, cobbled streets. However, Furnas has got lots of friendly, helpful people who seem to be happy to direct visitors to the caldeiras (hot springs) and other attractions such as the botanic gardens. If you don't speak Portuguese, you'll find many of the younger people, and those in tourist-facing businesses speak at least some "tourist English".
