Breakfast was very good, and very reasonably priced. They also rent motorbike for 200 baht per day which is necessary for visiting the Khmer sites scattered around Nong Rang. Some of these sites are remotely located and they are best visited by private transport. Nang Rong is a small place and everything is within walking distance. The night market and 7-11 is 10-15 minutes walking distance from P.California. Mr Wicha was also very kind and dropped me in his car till Nang Rong bus station for my journey to Khorat.

Nang Rong is a small town.
Nang Rong is a small town. Main reason to go there is to visit Phanum Rong Historical Park. You can arrange moto taxi from the bus station for 600 THB (two temples). Thai massage is available in Nang Rong for very reasonable price (200 THB 1h, 400 THB 2h - Oct '22). Vegetarian restaurant close to main road (close to the passage)

If you are looking for the stereotypical Thailand of...
If you are looking for the stereotypical Thailand of nightclubs, bars and other "pleasures" this is not the place for you. Itis a quiet rural town with plenty of raodside restaurants/cafes, a few bars, most of which close early. Shopping is fairly limited, there are one or two open air markets and some small convenience stores but that is about it. Most of the towns shops are motorcycle repair/sales or farming supplies. If you are looking for the "real" Thailand this is about as real as it gets. Personally I found it refreshing to be away from the pollution and noise of the cities and it is a good base of operations if you like looking at temples and historic sites. Oh, and the cattle who grase on the sides of the road are very friendly.

The hotel has a pool and a garden where you can relax, have a drink and eat. The food was good. The staff is friendly and helpfull. They arranged a taxi for me to visit Phanom Rung and Muang Tum, which took half a day.
