A luxury, purpose-built resort along the Algarve region coastline offering a variety of accommodation ranging from 5-star hotels to villas and apartments, Vilamoura is the largest complex of its type in Europe. It is conveniently located, 16 km from Albufeira and 25 km from Faro Airport.
Its heart and soul lies around the exclusive Marina, while the 20 square kilometre development is flanked by a Golf Academy and 6 Golf Courses. It also includes a casino and a variety of sports facilities, comprising a diving club and a large, sandy beach. Although the area was developed from scratch by the Porto banker Cupertino de Miranda in 1974, its origins date back to Roman times. The Cerro da Vila Museum tells the story of the ancient fishing town, and displays the ruins of the Roman baths from the 1st century.

Wonderful restaurants! Delicious food and lovely ambiance in all places visited, especially in the area behind the Marina. Favourite restaurants included The Fish Shack, Don Alfonso, Retino, Nija, Sal & Fozo. Steak, lamb and fish dishes all delicious and of course Monkfish Cataplaner. Local beaches all well cared for. I have been going to Vilamoura for several years mainly due to the location only 25 minutes from Faro airport and close to the beach, bars and restaurants. Beautiful place, fantastic food. Lots of trips you are able to book when you're there like parasailing, fishing, jet skiing, dolphin watching, visit the caves, there's a waterpark nearby, beaches are beautiful and clean. The villa itself is a good size and located in a quiet neighbourhood. It's private, with a large garden and fantastic pool. It's a 10 minute walk to the Old Town where there's a small supermarket and a few restaurants etc. The centre of Vilamoura and the marina are a ten minute taxi ride.
