Located within 20 km of Phoenix Plaza and 21 km of Fukui International Activities Plaza in Awara, 越前あわら温泉 つるや offers accommodation with seating area. The service and the attention to the details were exceptional. Staff were trained so well and professionally did their part (job). It was if everyone knew exactly what our needs were at the exact time.

Located in Awara in the Fukui region with Fujino Genkuro Memorial Museum nearby, Awara Onsen Matuya Sen Sen provides accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a sauna. Getting there was very easy and easily accessible by a direct bullet train from Tokyo and then just bussing it up - they also have coaches available to take you to and from the JR station if requested. The room was amazingly clean and big - the food as well was very nice especially for a ryokan where the food can sometimes be a hit and miss. The public onsens were also very nice with amenities and drinks everywhere. The most impressive thing about our stay was definitely the service - everyone is very nice - we had Akira, who looked after us most and he was extremely kind and attentive during our stay. I usually dont think it makes a very large difference but this was something else. Last thing is we came on a Mon/Tues - which seems to be the quietest time for them, with maybe seeing around 6 or 7 other groups in total hanging around on Monday and a bit more on Tuesday - which we liked as the public onsens were basically empty if you came in the off peak times and the whole place was very quiet. Though there are alot of facilities catering for larger crowds inside the onsen and outside so if you do want a bit of atmosphere I would reccommend booking closer to the weekend. All in all our stay here was very nice and would definitely reccommend.

Amid its magnificent garden with koi-pond, Japanese-style hotel Haiya features hot spring baths, Japanese stone saunas and karaoke rooms. Everything was great. Comfortable stay. With wife and family. The Japanese style dinner and breakfast was delicious and with the excellent server's gave it a wonderful experience. The inside onsen was good, but the outside onsen hot spring was perfect for this time of year with the cool air around you. Great View of the mountains from our 7th floor room. Recommended for those who want to have real Japanese style experience.

Located 18 km from Phoenix Plaza, Grandia Housen offers 4-star accommodation in Awara and features a spa and wellness centre, an open-air bath and a garden. Japan hospitality at its best. Food was good. Lounge was good. Food was good. Nothing to complain. Only thing if they have coin laundry will do wonders for me.
