They looked after our luggage whilst we did the Quilotoa loop. The hotel is a 20min walk uphill from the main bus station or a $2 taxi. Easy walk to the lovely town center

Amazing place!! Hosteria Alpaka is run by a lovely woman who was so kind to us during our stay. She helped us with anything we needed and was very accommodating, preparing a take away breakfast for our last day as we were departing very early. Our shoes also got soaked on the hike to Quilotoa and she helped us dry them by putting up a fire. On the first day, before the start of the trek, we arrived to the hostel too late to have dinner anywhere and she made us some hot empanadas. Really 5 stars service.
The rooms are huge and the bed is super comfy! They gave us a heater for the room which worked super well. Great hot shower also. Delicious breakfasts with everything you can wish for - fruit, eggs and bread and pancakes with muesli.

The place is very quiet and I got a room with view to a street, but there was little noise.
The breakfast was very good and it was nicely done.
The staff and the hotel manager were extremely friendly and did everything to make my stay a peasant one. They helped me a lot when I fell ill, The always organised a taxi.
From the hotel I could reach important places near by in the city and farther way very quickly. I thank them a lot.

Very helpful staff!! Marcel informed us how we can get to all these beautiful places around and in Latacunga. AND: Marcel was super helpful and caring when we were unfortunately robbed in the bus. Marcel and his mother drove us to the next police station - caring so much about us! Thank you so much!

We loved everything about this place, it was the best accommodation we had in our whole trip around Ecuador, from the location to the staff, the room, the surroundings, it was all absolutely lovely, can't recommend enough. We only stayed for one night, wish we could've stayed longer, it's a prefect place to relax.

Very nice city with a calm vibe. Everything was walkable and you could find great local mercado just by walking around. Got some cheap great veggies, fruits and eggs! Nice stay if you wanna do the Quilotoa trip.

Only use it as a base for the last night rather than rushing to catch the bus back to Latacunga before 5pm. Bus in the morning left at 8.45am. Perfect!

The only reason to stay here was to get an early bus to the Quilotoa loop. Walked round and there were zero attractions to visit. Even the churches were shut but that may have been due to the State of Emergency. Didn't eat out because I didn't see anywhere open I fancied eating in.

This is a must see beautiful place. The drive to Quiatola has some of the most spectacular views in Ecuador. The views at Quiatola are breathtaking. Be prepared to pay a nominal per person fee to get into the park at Quiatola.

Though not much to do in the city, it's nevertheless a convenient stop for accessing all the nearby volcanoes and lakes. The city has a potential, it needs a bit of tourism infrastructure to encourage longer stay rather than a quick passing through.

The Princessa Tia Hotel is the place to stay in Quilatoa, best location, great breakfast, large room and bathroom, very clean and comfortable bed. But the best feature is the rooms all have an electric heater. Quilatoa is cold, so the benefit of the heater, which is rare to find anywhere in Ecuador, is amazing!
The rim hike is beautiful but steep and slippery in places. Poles would be a good idea. The hike down to the lake is surprisingly long, steep and slippery. There are horses or mules that can take you back up for $10 pp. Get out early as the fog moves in around 4pm and obscures visibility of the lake. The sun in the morning makes the water’s colors amazing. You can take a kayak out or go for a motorized ride in a zodiac.
The town is tiny and closes up early so don’t delay going to dinner. There are no pharmacies or banks and only 1 ATM which wouldn’t work with our card. Also, be careful because there are no gas stations for the entire Quilatoa Loop. Fill up before heading up either route to Quilatoa.
